AI Coming Impact on Education Computing: What Can Be Done to Supercharge the Next Decade, According to Business Leader Rick Inatome

Technology is constantly shaping and reshaping the future. Business leader Rick Inatome says that technology can boost productivity and efficiency while also bridge geographical distances.

There is almost no limit to the transformative power of technology, and many emerging technologies are promising to change the future in ways that would have been hard to imagine just a few years ago.

Below are some of the trends that are promising to change the way we understand computing over the next decade.

Artificial Intelligence

AI is already here and it's being integrated into multiple aspects of daily life. It's being used to power chatbots and improve the customer experience for companies big and small.

Yet, while AI has already established itself as a powerful technological force, it's likely we've only reached the tip of the iceberg. New applications of AI technology are being rolled out seemingly every day, as more and more companies are investing in developing uses for it.

Machine learning, one of the major AI subsets, is helping companies automate tasks and make predictive analysis that can drive decision making.

Edge Computing

Cloud computing was a major technological trend of a few years ago, and edge computing is the next step in that development. Cloud computing has some drawbacks, specifically related to connectivity.

Edge computing solves the issue of not having strong internet connectivity. It helps provide solutions closer to where the actual needs of computing occur. Through this, data can be processed instantly even in locations that are remote or where connectivity is limited or disrupted.

Edge computing goes hand-in-hand with IoT -- or the Internet of Things -- so as the usage of the latter increases, the usage of the former will, too.

Quantum Computing

Quantum computing is one of the biggest technological trends that is bound to grab attention over the next decade. The powerful computing uses quantum phenomena such as quantum entanglement and superposition to monitor, query and analyze data, and then quickly act on it -- no matter where it's coming from.

It's already been used to help stop the spread of communicable diseases and develop vaccines. The finance and banking industries are also using it to detect and prevent fraud, manage risk and execute what's known as HFT, or high-frequency trading.

Quantum computers are exponentially faster than even the biggest supercomputers, which gives them the ability to completely disrupt the computing industry.

Cybersecurity

Rick Inatome says that as more and more aspects of daily life make their way onto the internet in some form, cybersecurity will become even more important and prevalent. Of course, cybersecurity isn't new, but it can still be considered emerging because of how much it is constantly evolving.

It's necessary for cybersecurity to evolve like this, as the cyberthreats that are posed are constantly evolving to evade security measures. Over the next decade, it's very likely that cybersecurity may not even be considered a separate technological entity; it could simply be integrated into every other technological development automatically -- out of necessity.

About Rick Inatome

Rick Inatome is a transformative business leader and mentor, entrepreneur, and investor whose legacy includes being one of the architects of the digital age. Working with the founders of companies such as Apple and Microsoft in the computer industry’s early days, he established a disruptive technology distribution channel that introduced the personal computer first to the general public and then to corporate America. It grew into a NYSE Fortune 500 company.
